BATON ROUGE, LA – Denham Springs resident Delia Adams Taylor, APR, has joined State Treasurer John Kennedy’s administration as Communications Director.

As Communications Director, Taylor will be responsible for publicity management, media relations, and communications policy, as well as assist with administrative policy and legislative relations. She also will work closely with the Louisiana Bond Commission.

I am pleased to announce Delia’s appointment. She brings a high degree of professionalism and energy to the Treasurers Office, backed by a strong knowledge of working in and around state government, said Kennedy, who assumed his job in January. I am looking forward to her input in my administration, especially as we address important policy issues.

Taylor holds the distinction of national accreditation in the public relations profession. She formerly served as press secretary to Lt. Governor Kathleen Blanco, where she helped manage the state’s publicity crisis following an NBC Dateline report on traffic stops along Interstate 10, and the promotion of FrancoFte 99, a year-long tourism marketing campaign for Louisiana. Taylor previously worked with the administrative staff of the Secretary of States Office, the LSU Office of Public Relations, and the news department of WBRZ-TV.

She is a member of various professional and civic organizations, and has received numerous awards for excellence in public relations and journalism. Taylor also was nominated for the 1999 YWCA Women of Achievement Award. She holds a bachelors of arts degree in journalism and a masters degree in arts and humanities from LSU. She also is a graduate of Doyle High School.

She is married to Jeff Taylor, assessor-elect for Livingston Parish, and they have two children, Zachary and Caroline. They are active members of First United Methodist Church in Denham Springs.
