State Treasurer John Schroder released the following statement today regarding the Bond Commission’s discussion of Citigroup and Bank of America’s gun policies:

“As Treasurer and Louisiana’s banker, it’s important for me to make sure we aren’t doing business with companies that violate the laws of the state. I don’t know if these policies violate any Louisiana laws, but they certainly sound, smell and look bad. I do not want the people and businesses of Louisiana to be collateral damage.

I look forward to hearing the answers to the questions asked this morning in Bond Commission.

At the end of the day, it’s our responsibility to vet and determine if a business’s policies infringe on the rights of the citizens of Louisiana.

Do I, as your State Treasurer, want to do business with companies that propose policies like these? The answer is no.”
