BATON ROUGE, LA – A bill to improve transparency around the state’s finances passed another hurdle on its way to becoming law yesterday, according to State Treasurer John Schroder.

HB 510 by Rep. Taylor Barras, which creates an online checkbook of Louisiana spending, made it off the House floor and now heads to the Senate.

Treasurer Schroder praised the House passage of the bill in the following statement:

“I support this legislation and will work with anyone to make it a reality,” said Treasurer Schroder. “Hopefully the momentum will continue and the bill will keep moving through the Senate. Taxpayers have lost faith in government, and HB 510 would go a long way to gaining back that trust.”
