Treasurer Kennedy Will Not Ask for More Money Under Any Circumstances

BATON ROUGE, LA – State Treasurer John Kennedy testified before the Legislative Compensation Review Commission this week saying he will not accept a pay raise under any circumstances during his tenure as treasurer.

“I’m comfortable with what I am making now,” Treasurer Kennedy said. “When I ran for this job I knew what it paid. I made a contract with the people of Louisiana and it would be unfair to ask for more money now.”

The Commission proposed a $40,933 increase in pay for the lieutenant governor, secretary of state, treasurer, attorney general, agriculture commissioner, elections commissioner and insurance commissioner. The Commission also proposed an increase in pay for lawmakers.

“There are too many people and too many priorities that need this money more than the elected officials,” said Treasurer Kennedy. “I will not accept a pay raise under any circumstances-period.”
