BATON ROUGE, La – John Kennedy, who was sworn in as the new State Treasurer on January 10th, has appointed Alice B. Dunn as his Confidential Assistant at the Department of Treasury.

A native of Jackson, Louisiana, Ms. Dunn has 29 years of state service. She served 17 of those years at the Department of Revenue serving as Executive Assistant to several previous department secretaries. In 1996, she was named Confidential Assistant to then Revenue Secretary John Kennedy, where she served until 1999.

“I take my job very seriously because I enjoy what I’m doing,” says Ms. Dunn. “My hard work, dedication and loyalty comes naturally because a position such as mine demands these qualities. I am happy to continue working with Mr. Kennedy as he enters his new position as State Treasurer.”

A graduate of West High School in Jackson, Ms. Dunn received her Business Administration Certificate from the Capitol Area Vo-Tech School and attended Southern University. Prior to her service at the Department of Revenue, she was employed at Southern University for two years, State Group Benefits for 1 years, and the Department of Urban and Community Affairs for 8 years. She has two children, Shantelle and Leon, Jr.

“I have total confidence in Alice’s abilities,” says Treasurer Kennedy. “With her help and others, I hope to take the Treasurer’s office to places it’s never been.”
