BATON ROUGE, LA – John Kennedy, who was sworn in as the new State Treasurer on January 10th, has appointed Baton Rouge native and LSU graduate Jason R. Redmond as Deputy State Treasurer.

“I am very excited about taking on this position,” says Redmond. “I am grateful to Treasurer Kennedy for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Louisiana in this capacity.”

Redmond previously served as Campaign Manager for John Kennedy’s successful election victory for State Treasurer. Prior to that he served for two years as an aide to then-Secretary John Kennedy at the Department of Revenue. Redmond previously worked in the campaigns of former state treasurers Mary Landrieu and Ken Duncan as well as other races on the local and congressional level.

Redmond’s duties as Deputy State Treasurer will include overseeing and managing department staff and will be involved in formulating and executing initiatives for the Department of Treasury.

Redmond, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, graduated from Louisiana State University’s Manship School of Mass Communication in 1998 with a B.A. in Mass Communication, concentrating in Political Communication and minoring in Political Science.

“I have total confidence in Jason’s abilities,” says Treasurer Kennedy. “With his help and others, I hope to take the Treasurer’s office to places it’s never been.”
